Summer is our busiest season, and we’re always on the lookout for volunteers. They’re the heart of our mission to preserve our town’s history, and protecting our heritage is a gift that benefits our community, visitors, and future generations. We couldn’t do it without them. Please consider joining us as a volunteer and helping make a difference.

- The Historical Flag Project needs someone to take charge by making sure the flags stay in great shape, working with sponsors on replacements, and managing the schedule for putting the flags up and taking them down.
- Display Manager: Do you have a knack for interior design? We’re looking to bring our museum spaces to life by arranging and showcasing historical features in the Meeting House, working hand in hand with the SHS museum Curator.
- Be a summer docent at our Hearse House Museum. We’re open on Saturdays from 1 pm to 3 pm June through August, and we are always looking for friendly docents to greet visitors and create a welcoming atmosphere in our museum.
-
The annual Old Home Day event, held every second Saturday in August, is a fantastic opportunity to get involved. The Hearse House Museum and Meetinghouse open their doors to the public, with docents offering guided tours for visitors. Help us with our White Elephant and Raffle fundraising, which supports the Society.
- Property Maintenance: We’re taking care of our old buildings, property, lawns, and trees. If you have any skills that could help us out, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
- Volunteer re-enactors, do you have a flair for the dramatic? Why not put your talents to use as a reenactor? Join the historical cemetery walk by portraying a notable historical character! Our Cemetery Walk and Round Robin events bring the stories of early town citizens to life. It’s a family-friendly experience, and kids are always welcome!
- Serving on the Board of Directors or Trustee: These roles keep our Society supported and thriving.
- Salisbury Artifacts: Are you interested in donating or lending historic Salisbury items for exhibit at our museum? Family treasures like Bibles, photographs, or period clothing would be deeply appreciated.
- We are always grateful and delighted when we receive financial contributions.
