ACTIVITIES

  • THE ROUND ROBIN: JUNE:  In coordination with the Historical Society of Webster, on the first Wednesday in June,  fourth graders are led on guided tours of each of the town’s Historical Society in a Round Robin fashion. The Salisbury stop includes a visit to our Historical Society’s Museum and Meeting House and the Cemetery Walk experience in the Old Baptist Cemetery. The three school groups then join on the green in Salisbury for a picnic and opportunity to play traditional games together. Our town’s home schooled children of similar age are welcome.
  • PRESERVING OUR OLD GRAVEYARDS: SUMMER PROJECT:  Members pitched in to help renovate our old graveyards.
  • CEMETERY WALK: Re enacting long past Salisbury citizens. Location-Baptist Graveyard
  • OLD HOME DAY:  AUGUST,  Second Saturday: We open our buildings to the public. Docents lead visitors through the buildings, highlighting specific exhibits.  As a fundraiser for the Society, we sponsor a raffle with objects made primarily in Salisbury.  Our White Elephant sales are always popular.
  • LECTURE SERIES:  Summer guest speakers and programs. Our 50th Birthday Celebration
  • THE “SOUPER BOWL”: (Pre Covid) Was a wonderful opportunity to both learn about and preserve historical materials.  The morning workshop was  followed by a hearty luncheon of homemade soups. Perhaps in time we can do this again!
  • SCHOLARSHIP : The Salisbury Historical Scholarship for graduating High School Seniors is one of the largest for a non profit of our size.\
  • THE HISTORICAL FLAGS PROJECT: The flying of 17 Historical Flags from Memorial Day to Veterans Day (May-Nov), a community and Historical Society shared project.
  • COLLECTING AND PRESERVING ARTIFACTS,  SUMMER DOCENT VOLUNTEERING, PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
  • ONLINE AND SOCIAL MEDIA PROJECTS: Share historical facts and images about our town, encourage conversations to help generate interest in our town’s history and keeping the public updated about our activities.
